Third Sunday After Epiphany (Revealing of Jesus)

Call to Worship (Based on Psalm 84:1-5)

Leader: How lovely is Your dwelling place, LORD Almighty!

People: Our souls yearn for You, our living God. In You O God, even the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest for herself where she may care for her young.

Leader: Blessed are those who dwell in You our God. They are ever praising you.

People: Blessed are those whose strength is in You O LORD our God!

Hymn 77  “How Great Thou Art”

O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder

Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;

When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur

And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze;

(Repeat Refrain)

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,

Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;

That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away my sin;

(Repeat Refrain)

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation

And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.

Then I shall bow in humble adoration,

And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

(Repeat Refrain)

A Time with God’s Children & Our Lord’s Prayer  Cindy LoPiano

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Praying Together

Anthem “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling” by Charles Wesley

First UMC Meriden Virtual Choir

Hymn 399 (vv. 1, 3) “Take My Life, and Let It Be Consecrated”

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.

Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.

Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.

Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.

Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.

(The United Methodist Hymnal. No. 399. Words by Francis R. Havergal. 1873. Used by permission.)

Scripture Luke 8:40-56

Sermon “Coming Alive Together – Great Big Small”

Hymn 419   “I Am Thine, O Lord”

I am thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, and it told Thy love to me;

But I long to rise in the arms of faith and be closer drawn to Thee.

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord, to the cross where Thou hast died.

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord, to Thy precious, bleeding side.

Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, by the power of grace divine;

Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, and my will be lost in Thine.

Repeat Refrain

O the pure delight of a single hour that before Thy throne I spend,

When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend.

Repeat Refrain

There are depths of love that I cannot know till I cross the narrow sea;

There are heights of joy that I may not reach till I rest in peace with Thee.

Repeat Refrain
